SBLC Origination Platform

Standby Letter of Credit
Lifecycle Management

OPTKAS Layer 1 provides end-to-end SBLC origination, amendment, draw, and expiry management — coordinated through a single institutional control plane with tamper-evident audit receipts.

What Is an SBLC?

A Standby Letter of Credit is a guarantee of payment issued by a bank on behalf of a client. It is a payment of last resort — called upon only if the obligor fails to fulfil the underlying obligation.

SBLCs are governed by ISP98 (International Standby Practices) or UCP 600, are widely accepted as collateral in trade finance, project finance, and credit enhancement contexts.

OPTKAS Layer 1 manages the full instrument lifecycle — from origination through expiry — while producing the compliance, evidence, and audit records institutional counterparties require.

SBLC Instrument Types

OPTKAS supports all standard SBLC variants.

Performance SBLC

Guarantees the obligor's performance of a contractual obligation. Commonly used in project finance, construction, and trade contracts.

Financial SBLC

Stands in guarantee of a financial obligation — loan repayment, bond interest, or payment under a credit facility.

Advance Payment SBLC

Secures advance payments made by a buyer to a seller, callable if the seller fails to deliver.

Bid Bond SBLC

Guarantees the seriousness of a tender bid; callable if the winner fails to execute the contract.

Origination Lifecycle

Six coordinated phases managed by the OPTKAS control plane.

Application

Applicant submits SBLC request via OPTKAS intake — applicant name, beneficiary, issuing bank, face value, tenor, and instrument type.

KYC / AML

KYC agent performs full applicant and beneficiary due-diligence. AML screening runs in parallel.

Policy Gate

Policy engine evaluates value limits, jurisdiction eligibility, and concentration exposure.

Issuance

Legal agent coordinates issuance with the nominated issuing bank. SWIFT message reference is recorded.

Amendment

Tenor extensions, value increases, and beneficiary transfers flow through the amendment pipeline with full version history.

Draw / Expiry

Draw requests are validated against original terms. Expiry events are tracked and receipts generated at each stage.
